چکیده

Learning objects are under discussion in the context of electronic and in particular Web-based learning. Intuitively, they represent reusable units of learning content that can be consumed or studied within a single learning session, and that can be sequenced into larger units such as classes and courses if necessary or desired. To achieve these goals, making learning objects amenable to the technical support of a database system appears appropriate. Once this view is in place, learning objects can be used as the central and uniform foundation of an e-learning platform that, for example, is capable of tracking users or of adapting content to users, and that can simultaneously handle a companys knowledge management. It is shown in this paper how the latter can be achieved through a common exploitation of (and interaction between) database objects and suitably designed processes.

Reusing Learning Objects and the Impact of Web 3.0 on e-Learning Platforms

E-Learning promotes the exchange of experiences and knowledge that facilitate the learning of students without the time and space restrictions imposed by traditional models. The potential for reusability is a primary attraction for educators when discussing about learning objects. Reusing learning objects is as old as retelling a story or making use of libraries and textbooks. In electronic for...

Adaptation in E-Learning Content Specifications with Dynamic Sharable Objects

Dynamic sophisticated real-time adaptation is not possible with current e-learning technologies. Our proposal is based on changing the approach for the development of e-learning systems using dynamic languages and including them in both platforms and learning content specifications thereby making them adaptive. We propose a Sharable Auto-Adaptive Learning Object (SALO), defined as an object tha...

Prototype framework for integration of digital repository systems with e-learning platforms

Modern repository platforms like Dspace, ePrints or FEDORA (Flexible and Extensible Digital Object and Repository Architecture) are information systems and frameworks for handling digital objects. They are rich with various features so they might serve as much better interactive storage than internal LMS (Learning Management System) storage used by LSM like Blackboard or Moodle. This paper anal...
